VDC Movement began long before the first design, the first logo, or the first piece of clothing.

I was born in Fortaleza, Brazil, where people often say, "Vai dar certo" — "It's going to work out." It's a simple expression, but one that carries hope, resilience, and the belief that tomorrow can be better than today.

At 23 years old, I left home and moved to São Paulo with one goal: to build a life through Jiu-Jitsu. I lived inside an academy, dedicated myself completely to the journey, and eventually earned my black belt. Along the way, I met my wife and continued chasing a dream that would take us across the world.

Later, I moved to San Diego to train and grow with some of the best in the sport. But life had different plans. In just two years, I went through three knee surgeries, including bilateral ACL reconstruction and a meniscus procedure. Recovery was painful, physically and mentally. Progress felt slow, and some days it seemed like the finish line would never come.

During those moments, one thought stayed with me:

Vai dar certo.

It became more than a phrase. It became a promise to myself.

A promise that I would heal.

A promise that I would become the father I wanted to be.

A promise that I would become the man I was meant to become.

A promise that I would fulfill the dream that made me leave home years before.

When my family and I moved from California to Texas, VDC was still just an idea living quietly in my heart. Joining a community built on purpose and belonging reminded me that the greatest achievements are not driven by money, but by commitment to the process.

Like every beginning—and every new beginning—we faced financial struggles, exhaustion, uncertainty, and sacrifice. Yet the belief never changed.

Vai dar certo.

Today, VDC Movement is the embodiment of that belief.

It is for people who keep showing up when life gets hard. For those who refuse to quit. For those who understand that persistence, discipline, and faith in the process can carry them through any obstacle.

This is not just a clothing brand.

It is a reminder to keep moving forward.

Because no matter where you come from or what you're fighting through…

Vai dar certo.
